
Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Çebi is a highly respected scientist known for her deep expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology, as well as her strong academic leadership. Currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Giresun University, Prof. Dr. Çebi’s primary research universe encompasses critical areas directly concerning human health, such as cancer biochemistry, tumor markers, oxidative stress, food toxicology, and biomarker analysis.
Beginning her academic journey at Ondokuz Mayıs University (BSc in Biology, 1998; MSc in Molecular Biology, 2002), Prof. Dr. Çebi received her PhD in Biochemistry from Yüzüncü Yıl University in 2007. Throughout her career, she has placed great importance on international scientific collaborations. She was selected as an EMBO (Federation of European Biochemical Societies) fellow in Vienna in 2007, worked as a visiting researcher at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, in 2011, and undertook international scientific duties (STSM) within the DARTER COST action focusing on the delivery of RNA therapeutics.
Continuing her academic career at Giresun University since 2008 and receiving the title of Full Professor in 2019, Dr. Çebi also possesses extensive administrative experience. Following significant roles such as the Director of the Institute of Health Sciences (2010-2016) and Vice Dean (2009-2014), she was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences in 2021. With numerous articles published in prestigious national and international journals, Prof. Dr. Çebi has recently served as the editor of prominent reference books shaping the international medical and health literature, including Free Radicals and Antioxidants (2025), Flavonoids (2025), Vitamins in the Light of Current Developments (2024), and Heavy Metals and Trace Elements in Health (2023).
Valuing interdisciplinary studies and knowledge transfer in scientific research, Prof. Dr. Çebi brings her rich laboratory and clinical background to the projects under the umbrella of the independent academic research group, MAREINS (Management Research in Emerging Information Systems). As a visionary member of the group, which is rooted in collective production, she continues to make valuable contributions to multidisciplinary studies focusing on health informatics and management.
