
Asst. Prof. Dr. Turan Kaan Karakaya is a physician and academic specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with extensive experience in healthcare management. He completed his medical education at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine in 2015 and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ordu University in 2022. His residency thesis investigated the “Maternal and Fetal Effects of Different Cesarean Techniques”. Since 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Karakaya has been serving as a faculty member at Giresun University, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, where he teaches clinical sciences to medical students.
In addition to his clinical expertise in antenatal care and advanced gynecologic surgery (laparoscopy, hysteroscopy), Asst. Prof. Dr. Karakaya possesses a strong background in healthcare administration. He served as the Chief Physician at Alucra State Hospital (2016–2018) and Gölköy State Hospital (2023–2024), and held the position of Deputy Chief Physician at Giresun Maternity and Children’s Diseases Training and Research Hospital (2024–2025). During his administrative tenure, he played an active role in organizing clinical services, managing quality and patient safety processes, and improving institutional performance metrics.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Karakaya joins MAREINS as a domain expert bridging Clinical Operations and Health Systems Management. His dual background as a surgeon and a hospital administrator provides critical insight into the workflow of healthcare institutions. Within the consortium, he contributes to projects focused on Hospital Information Systems (HIS), process optimization, and healthcare quality management. Asst. Prof. Dr. Karakaya plays a pivotal role in identifying the operational needs of healthcare providers and ensuring that the digital health solutions developed by the group address real-world administrative and clinical challenges.
