
Lecturer Burak Bahar is an academic specializing in Management Information Systems, born in 1997 in Gemilerçekeği, Giresun, Turkey. He received his bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences at Istanbul Nişantaşı University between 2015 and 2019. During his undergraduate studies, he completed a long-term internship at Turkish Airlines, serving as a Systems Programmer within the Corporate Development and Information Technologies Directorate.
He earned his master’s degree in Management Information Systems at the Institute of Social Sciences, Atatürk University, between 2021 and 2023, with a thesis titled “Research on the Motivational Factors of Information Technologies Department Employees in the Context of Abraham Harold Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs”, supervised by Prof. Dr. Üstün Özen. In the same year, he began his PhD studies in Management Information Systems at the Institute of Social Sciences, Atatürk University, again under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Üstün Özen. During this period, he served as a Provincial Coordinator under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kamil Arslan within the scope of the European Union-funded project titled “Technical Assistance for Raising Awareness and Capacity Building and Preparation of Local Development Strategies for New LAGs” (Ref: TA/2020/SER/0001). This project, conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, focused on rural development strategies and capacity building in line with EU standards.
Lecturer Bahar has specific academic studies focusing on the contributions of Polish cryptologists Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki, and Henryk Zygalski to breaking Germany’s Enigma encryption system during the Second World War. In this context, during his doctoral research, he spent time at the Department of Management in Digital and Networked Societies (MiNDS) at Kozminski University in Warsaw and completed a short-term doctoral research internship under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dariusz Jemielniak, a faculty member at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society and Vice President of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Since 2024, he has been serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Technologies at the Tirebolu Mehmet Bayrak Vocational School of Giresun University. He continues his doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Üstün Özen. His research spans Health Informatics, Management Psychology, Information Security, Information Ethics, and the Information Economy. He also serves as Assistant Coordinator at Giresun University’s General Coordinatorship of Application and Research Centers.
In addition to his academic and administrative duties, Lecturer Bahar is the Founder of MAREINS. He established this consortium to create a dynamic ecosystem that bridges the gap between theoretical Management Information Systems research and interdisciplinary practice. Leading the strategic operations of the group, he orchestrates the collaboration between senior experts and emerging scholars, ensuring that MAREINS acts as a sustainable platform for scientific innovation, particularly in the fields of health informatics and digital transformation.
